Visitors travelling to Naples by plane land at Naples International Airport 6 km North-East of the city. The Alibus provides a quick shuttle service into Piazza Garibaldi while taxis and car rentals are available at the airport. Napoli Centrale Train Station is also in Garibaldi Square with good connections to the city's transport infrastructure while regional and long distance buses arrive at Garibaldi Square or the Corso Arnoldo Lucci Metropark.
Although Naples is one of Italy's largest cities its historic centre is compact enough to explore on foot. There is also an efficient network of Metro, trams, cable cars, local trains and buses. A recent innovation is a 12 km cycle lane along its seafront and coastline.
Naples is a fascinating place to visit, as well as a good base for exploring the ash-covered remains of daily Roman life at Pompeii.
