About South Western Railway
Refurbishment news: As of August 20th, 2017 South Western Railway (SWR) has begun operating across the south of England. Formally known as South West Trains, the new franchise promises a range of new benefits for its passengers. The €1.2 billion (€1.5 billion) investment between 2017 and 2024 will bring new and refurbished trains and 52,000 extra seats during peak commuter hours are amongst the top improvements. Passengers can also expect faster WiFi, better onboard bathrooms and charging points.
Stagecoach South Western Trains is registered in both England and Wales where it launched South West Trains rail service in 1996. Their journey between Twickenham and London Waterloo was the first privatised scheduled train to operate for 48 years.
The South West Railway network includes routes through Hampshire, Surrey, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Devon, Somerset, and Greater London. These routes serve a range of commuters and longer-distance travellers. The company’s six main lines include South West Railway are the South Western Main, the Portsmouth Direct, the West of England Main, the Wessex Main, the London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour and the London Waterloo to Reading Lines. Suburban routes are also available.

What ticket types are available on South Western Railway?
Season ticket: South Western Railway offer season tickets which can cover periods of time from over a week to a year. Perfect for commuter passengers wishing to save money on their rail fare.
Mums-to-be free upgrade: expecting a little one? South Western Railway offers an automatic upgrade for Mums-to-be when there are no standard seats available.
GroupSave: groups of three to nine people can save up to 34% on adult tickets when travelling together. Perfect for groups of friends and family taking a day trip.
Group Travel: travelling in a group of ten or more? Then it's possible to save up to 25% on Off-Peak tickets when you book in advance.
What facilities are available on South Western Railway trains?
South Western Railway pride themselves on offering a fair and unique experience for their passengers. That is why they introduced special services on their routes which you can find below.
First Class complimentary catering: First Class passengers travelling with South Western Railway are automatically entitled to a free hot drink and biscuit. The deal is also available to those who travel from London Waterloo to Axminster, Bournemouth and Portsmouth Harbour before 10:00 a.m. Monday to Friday.
In-Station Wifi: free WiFi can be found at the following five South Western Railway Stations: Aldershot, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Guildford and Woking.
Quiet zone: quiet zones are available on most services on carriages marked with blue stickers on windows and doors.
