Rhätische Bahn

Rhätische Bahn, otherwise known as the Rhaetian Railway, is one of the oldest and most prominent railways in Switzerland. First built in 1889, the RhB used pioneering techniques to create a railway that could cut through the tricky Alpine terrain. Known for its beautiful views, the Bernina Pass, part of the Bernina Express route, has been given UNESCO world heritage status.

Bernina Express

Built in 1910 by Rhaetian Railway, the Bernina Express is considered to one of the most scenic train routes in Switzerland. Starting in either Chur or St Moritz it travels through the Swiss alpines and then crosses the border into Italy, finishing in the Mediterranean landscape of Tirano. The full journey from Chur to Tirano takes just over four hours.
