However, for those traveling with heavy luggage or with mobility issues, many public transit options are also available. A bus journey with both the A4 Air Decker and 716 bus service will take just six minutes, with the 1, 3A, 4, 5, and 9 buses covering the distance in seven minutes. These buses depart from the St James Parade stop by Kingsmead Square and arrive at the cities main bus station at 16 Dorchester Street, a two-minute walk from the train station. If you are traveling from Bath Abbey or the Roman Baths, the station is a seven-minute walk away via Stall Street, and many other bus services are available if you are traveling from elsewhere in the city centre.

How far is it from the city centre to the train station?

The train station Bath Spa is just 0.4 miles (0.6 kilometers) away from the city centre. You could easily travel the distance by foot or public transit in under ten minutes, but it would be wise to give yourself around 20 minutes to be safe. If you are traveling to the Oldfield Park train station, situated slightly west of the city centre, it would take you around 20 minutes when making the journey on foot. The number 1 and number 5 bus also service this route and take around 15 minutes, with both buses departing from James Street West in Bath center, and the departing stop being Arlington Road for number 1 and Bellotts Road for number 5. If you are traveling to the Freshford train station from Bath city centre then the quickest way to travel the distance would be by using the Great Western Railway service from Bath Spa station to Freshford train station, this journey would only take 18 minutes and departs every 40 minutes.

Train station Bath Spa is largely accessible for those with limited mobility. The station comes equipped with step-free access to all platforms, as well as a ramp for train access and step-free access coverage. Staff assistance is also available, but it is advised that you book this in advance. The times that staff will be available to help is from 5:00 a.m. until 1:10 a.m. from Monday to Friday, 5:30 a.m. until 1:10 a.m. on Saturdays and 7:00 a.m. until 1:10 a.m. on Sundays. There is also noted to be a severe step between the platform and the train from the front three carriages.

Bath Spa train station is a Grade II listed building that dates back to 1840, mirroring the great history of the rest of the city. The building is constructed from a golden-colored Bath stone that is present throughout much of the architecture of Bath and features large asymmetrical Tudor style arches.  It is situated just north of the River Avon that runs through the city and is a stone's throw from the main attractions of Bath city centre.
