The train from Dortmund to Düsseldorf takes approximately one hour on the German regional train network, Deutsche Bahn. There are five departures an hour, more in evening peak time, seven days a week. The first departure is just after 6:00 a.m., with trains running until just before midnight.

Taking the Train from Dortmund

Dortmund Station is close to the city centre. Long distance, regional and local buses stop at Dortmumd bus station, adjacent to the train station. There are frequent underground and bus routes from the city centre and regional cities, such as Cologne and Essen. Taxis are available at the station.

Getting into Düsseldorf by Train

Düsseldorf sits on the banks of the River Rhine and is famous for its nightlife, the annual programme of festivals and trade shows as well as the nine-day Kirmes funfair in the Summer. The Old Town, rebuilt after the war, is a popular shopping area. The banks of the River Rhine have beautiful promenades, taking visitors from the Parliament buildings, past the Rathausufer (Town Hall), and the Burgplatz to Rhine-Park. The Parliament is housed in a 16th-century building and it is well worth taking one of the guided tours available. The city centre is dotted with interesting and intriguing fountains and statues, both old and new. Düsseldorf Railway Station is located in the heart of the city centre. Rheinbahn AG operates a frequent underground, bus and tram network giving easy access to all parts of Düsseldorf and the suburbs. Taxi ranks are located at the station entrance.
