In Switzerland, InterRegio trains connect regions and major cities with important regional centers, offering comfortable travel with amenities like Wi-Fi, power outlets, and ample luggage space. They are known for their punctuality and frequent service. In Germany, InterRegio trains were common from 1988 to 2003, connecting regions and mid-sized towns, and were popular for being usable without a supplement. Many German InterRegio lines have since been replaced by InterCity lines or the Interregio-Express (IRE), which is classified as a local passenger train.
