These two major cities are actually just 200 km apart, making getting from one to the other a fairly simple journey. There are however no direct flights between Bratislava and Budapest and the close proximity of these two capital cities makes it far easier to take a train or a bus, which are also cheaper and faster options. Trains depart from Bratislava central station, Bratislava Hlavná Stanica and coaches from the Central Coach Terminal, Autobusová Stanica
Buses to Budapest depart from the Central Coach Terminal, Autobusová Stanica, which is located in the eastern part of the city at Mlysnke Nivy. The coach terminal can be reached via trolley bus from the central train station or the city centre. Journey time via coach or bus is around three hours. Operators include Orangeways who operate two journeys per day, Eurolines who offer one daily morning service and Regiojet who operate six services per day. Coaches arrive at Budapest Népliget Bus Station, the main terminus for international coaches which is found in the southwest of the city centre.
