You can get from Leicester to Nottingham by East Midlands trains any day of the week. There's roughly one departure each hour, with a slightly higher frequency during the late afternoon. Trains depart from Leicester railway station, and you then have a choice of arrival points. You can either finish your trip at Station Street, also known as Nottingham City, or switch trains and carry on to Carlton railway station in the suburbs, three miles east of central Nottingham. Station Street is on the south side of the city centre. Exit from the western end of the station and walk 100 metres up Carrington Street to reach the town's main sites, shops, and nightclubs.
Travel from Leicester to Nottingham by Bus
There is a National Express service that runs from St Margaret's bus station, Leicester to Station Street, Nottingham. Expect two or three departures most hours of the day from mid-morning to late evening, with occasional lulls. All buses are direct, but there's some variation in journey duration. Station Street is the termination point while the remodelling of the Broadmarsh station takes place (due to finish at the end of 2020). Bus stands are currently located at the eastern end of the Station Street railway station. A three-minute walk north along Trent Street will take you to Canal Street in the city centre, and from there it's a short step up Middle Hill to Broadmarsh shopping centre.
