In addition to domestic operations, it also operates connections to neighbouring countries. The takeover of all night trains in Germany by ÖBB, for example, attracted particular attention. The Group's own subsidiary Rail Cargo Austria is responsible for freight transport.

Popular ÖBB Routes

ÖBB connects all of Austria with each other. Since the country has many beautiful mountains to show for itself, this is not at all a matter of course. In Austria you need a little more time to get from A to B. A lot of regional trains are used and also the ICEs and Railjets don't run as fast as you might be used to from some areas in Germany. ÖBB's most frequented routes are those that connect important cities, such as Vienna - Graz, Salzburg - Vienna, Linz - St. Pölten, Graz - Salzburg. ÖBB also operates transnationally and so you can get from Austria to all neighbouring countries, e.g. Germany. Would you like to take the night train from Graz to Venice or from Vienna to Bratislava? Then book an inexpensive ÖBB savings rail for you in an uncomplicated way.
