All trains depart from London Waterloo and arrive at Guildford Station. London Waterloo Station is situated on Waterloo Road, on the south side of the Thames, just over the bridge from Westminster. Guildford Station is situated on Walnut Tree Close. This is a 16-minute walk from the centre of Guildford, its High Street and Guildford Castle. South West Trains operate the trains on this route.

Taking the Train from Guildford

Guildford station is just to the north of the town centre over the bridge. It is easy to walk to from the high street, or local bus services are available for those with heavy bags or children. Parking at Guildford station is notoriously problematic, so it is probably sensible not to take the car. Late at night and early in the morning, it may be advisable to book a taxi to avoid missing the more sporadic trains from Guildford to London.

Getting into London by Train

Trains from Guildford to London arrive at Waterloo which is centrally located, just to the south of the river Thames. The train station is well connected to other parts of London via the tube network and local bus routes. Popular attractions close to Waterloo include the London Eye, the National Theatre and The Old Vic play house. There are also plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby as well as convenient (but pricey) accommodation. Covent Garden is just across the river and is served by local buses but the 15 minute walk over Waterloo Bridge is a very pleasant one offering splendid views of the Capital.
