Salou and Barcelona are connected by regular train and bus connections which operate throughout the week. The quickest way to get to Salou from Barcelona is via the Renfe train network, or by renting a private vehicle. However, because the route is along the Spanish coast, a bus journey could well be the most enjoyable way to make the trip.

Buses from Barcelona to Salou

Plana operates a regular bus service between Barcelona and Salou. Their buses run from Passeig de Gracia, which can be reached via Metro lines L2, L3 or L4. Buses run from just after 9 a.m. until just before midnight, and the journey takes 1 hour 55 minutes on average. There are 14 buses per day, so it should be possible to find a convenient departure time. All Plana services arrive at Placa d'Europa in Salou, which is about 15 minutes' walk from the seafront. Head down Carrer de Josep Carner and you'll be at the beach in no time.

Trains from Barcelona to Salou

Train services between these two Catalan cities are provided by Renfe - Spain's national rail company. All services depart from Barcelona Sants Station, which is linked to every part of the city via the Metro and local buses. Some trains also start at Estacio de Franca, which may be more convenient. The quickest trains only take 1 hour 20 minutes to reach Salou and there are around 10 departures every day. None of them require any changes along the way. All of them arrive at Salou's main station, which is on the Carrer de Carril, in the western half of the town. From the station, the beach and city centre are easily reached by walking down the Carrer de Barcelona.
