Trains from Paris to Venice: Journey Details

Direct trains from Paris to Venice are operated by Trenitalia and Transdev, using the Thello night service, which departs at just before 8:00 p.m. and arrives in Venice the following morning, after a journey of approximately 14 hours. The train has couchette and sleeper carriages, with departures seven days a week.

Taking the Train from Paris

Trains from Paris to Venice depart from Paris Gare de Lyon Station, which is located on the North bank of the River Seine in the heart of Paris. The station is on lines 1, 5 and 14 of the Metro. The public transport network in Paris is extensive and efficient, as well as being very tourist-friendly, and is made up of 14 Metro lines and numerous bus routes, including many night bus services, known as Noctiliens. Taxi ranks are located outside Paris Gare de Lyon.

Getting into Venice by Train

Venice is a town built on reclaimed lagoons, where the locals live their lives by the waterside and use canals as a transport network. These canals, as well as narrow, cobbled streets linked by footbridges, span out from St Mark's Square. This large square attracts both locals and visitors to its bars, coffee houses and restaurants, and is the home of the beautiful St Mark's Basilica. The most traditional way to explore Venice is from a gondola, while water ferries take visitors to the beaches of the Lido or the glass workshops and showrooms of Murano Island. Trains from Paris to Venice arrive at Venezia Santa Lucia Station. This is located just to the West of Venice and linked to the city's traffic-free centre, Venezia Mestre Station and the airport by water buses and water taxis.
